You may already know that all eye doctors are not the same. An ophthalmologist is specifically trained to diagnose, treat, and monitor eye conditions and diseases. Scott Eccarius, MD is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist who specializes in eye disease treatment such as glaucoma and cataracts. He also performs routine vision exams. He is a graduate of the University of Southern California (USC) where he completed his pre-med training. He graduated with honors (Magna Cum Laude) from USD School of Medicine. As a junior medical student he was elected President of the SD chapter of the National Medical Honor Society, Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed ophthalmology residency training at Washington University/Barnes Hospital- one of the Top 10 Ophthalmology programs according to the U.S. News & World Reports. Dr. Eccarius is a diplomat, fellow, and Board-examiner of the American Board of Ophthalmology and has been in Rapid City private practice since 1991.
